Wow, I don´t even know where to begin this week with the email. As you all know, I am writting on Tuesday! I have had some really good luck on my mission as far as being able to email on the right day, but yesterday it didn´t work out. They had some sort of holiday and everything was closed so we weren´t able to email. Mom, you got an email from E. Barbosa, he is a great friend of mine. I had him email you because I didn´t want you to get all worried ;) hehe.
So, I honestly have so much to say and not all that much time to say it. So this week was a blur and a blast. We worked our tails off monday to friday because we weren´t here this weekend. We were able to find lots of new people to teach and we are excited to start working with these people this week. We had an activity in the church thursday night with a short lesson. They always put me in charge of the game/activity after the spiritual thought because they all just think I am full of them! I actually really like it because over the years I have been able to learn lots of games to do because of efy, young mens, student council, and everything else. So I led the activity and everyone loved it. (don´t have time to explain what we did ;) maybe when we get home I´ll play it all with you all)
Now, I will explain my conference experience. This last week I arranged everything with our zone leaders and the assistants so we´d be able to watch the conference in english because they can´t broadcast it here in Porto. So we made all of our plans and we headed to Palmas for the weekend. AND I was able to watch the conference in english so it was all the better! The words of the living prophets really are so much better in their own language. The conference was in Palmas 3 and I watched it with 3 other elders, another member, and 2 sisters. We always get to watch in a little room on a big tv with A/C so its like the best thing ever. The perk of being able to watch it in Palmas was that everyone went there to watch it! So I got to see all the members from Palmas 3 and Taquaralto again! It was so much fun and everyone was so surprised to see me, so great to see all the families that have blessed my life. They all will always have a place in my heart as my brasilian family as well.
After the conference Saturday night we were able to go to Palmas 2 with our zone leaders (E. Barbosa/Medina) and grab some açaí. Super delicious, ya´ll need to eat this stuff. But something else really cool is that we got permission to watch the Priesthood session Saturday night at a members house! So we were all able to watch it. I will need to watch it again though because I was so tired and exhausted once 10:30 hit the clock. ha! I am not used to staying up a minute later. It was great though to be able to watch the Priesthood session. A funny thing is, we were walking home after and I was so tired that I almost stopped on a dead rat in the road! I thought it was a dog at first that thing was gigantic. But everyone screamed and I freaked out! ha. It was a funny experience.
Sunday we were able to watch the sessions as well. I missed only one talk this weekend and it was president monsons because the bus took forever to pass. I´ll watch it here in a little bit if I still have time. So the conference was absolutely amazing. I can´t say which talks were my favorite because I loved every single one of them. I made a list of about 10 questions I had and every single question was answered. It was incredible. And who couldn´t love Elder Hollands talk? I mean hello, he´s the best ever! And that reminds to tell my mother that I love you so very very very much! You are the best mother in the world and I am so happy that you qualified for the boston marathon! I will go with you when I get home! and I also want to say HAVE THE HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY EVER THIS WEEK! You are so great mother thanks :)
But yeah, I had some really spiritual experiences and I have been praying for a long time to know that these apostles are called of God. As a missionary we have to testify that we know that the world has 12 disciples of Christ and I wanted to have a certainty that they truly are the men God called. But I have no doubt that they are called of God and are our leaders. I fully support them and trust in there words. And yes, I remember who Elder Renlund is. His talk made me cry. It was just the coolest thing ever and it is so special that we have a special conection with him :) What a blessing.
So I will finish by saying that yesterday we were in Palmas to participate in the other zones P-Day and it was such a blast! We were the only ones that were invited as well :) hehe, E. Burock and I are loved :) haha. But we had a barbeque, played some games, relaxed, and all laughed and talked together the whole day basically. Yesterday night we headed back to porto and we actually missed our bus that goes to porto but luckily we called Bruno and he was more than willing to help us out so he picked us up and ran the bus down and dropped us off at a bus stop in front of it! haha. It was wild but super awesome. So this week should be another week just full of things. Meetings with the President and other things as well! I love you all and hope this week is amazing for you all. I know this church is true! have a great week!
com amor, Elder Patterson
