#em2015todosSomosIndigenas September 21, 2015

Então, essa semana foi legal. Eu acho que seria mais fácil escrever em português. Cody estava maldizendo meu inglês....

Just another week here in Porto Nacional for me! It was as hot as ever like always, but today the sky has clouds and looks like it will rain! We are doing a rain dance hoping that it will rain here. Did I ever tell you guys that Brasil has tons of indians??? Lamanitas? Its pretty legit. And here in Palmas they are having the World Indian Games! They have hashtags that say ´´In 2015 we are all indigenous!´´ its awesome. ha. But yeah, praying for rain here :)

This week was rather full of surprises. We had a zone meeting in Palmas so we went Wednesday to Palmas and on the way there, Elder Burock left his wallet and all his money and cards on the bus. So it was pretty stressful. After our meeting we went to the bus station to try and see if someone had turned it in but when we got there the place was closed. It was already 8:30 at night and we would have gotten home at about 10:30 so we arranged with the zone leaders and we stayed there for the night. And since we were at the bus station the closest house was the one in Palmas 3. So back we went to stay in my old house. We just slept the night though and it was old fashioned style on the ground with a sheet because we weren´t planning to stay there. The whole next day I was exhausted and super tired.

We had an activity in the church Thursday night and us missionaries were in charge. We left the message about Moroni 10:32 that says Come unto Christ and be perfected in Him. I honestly love this scripture because we are all so imperfect. I sure know that I am. But as I have come to know Christ I know that we can be perfected in Him. I am so thankful for His eternal sacrifice and everything He has done for me. We also were in charge of the activity after and I led a little game with everyone and they loved it, so it was a success.

This week I don´t have much to report on our investigators as it is the start of the new transfer and we cut our old ones that weren´t progressing and now we are looking for new people to teach. But we were able to find a few interesting Catholics to teach... Ha. One lady was super nice and let us in. We taught her and her son and I asked what she likes most about her church. She said that she likes all of the Saints and memorized prayers and all that stuff.... Uhh, its so hard to teach catholics that are actually catholics. Not that there is anything wrong with them, but that their religion that they know is completely different than ours and most people don´t like to take a lifetime and generations full of tradition and change. Like the Book of Mormon stories, many of the Lamanites didn´t listen because they followed the traditions of their fathers. But also, lots of Lamanites did listen and that is what we have to remember when we are teaching these people. That the Spirit can change their hearts and they can be converted. So what we do is teach what we know, teach the basic restored truths of the Gospel and let people act for themselves.

Oh! me and my comp also gave talks yesterday. Mine was about how the members can help with the missionary work. Of course right? ha. But it was funny because we didn´t have a microphone and we basically were talking almost screaming so everyone could hear us and hear what we were saying. But I want to just end with a few of my thoughts and let you all know that I know this church is true. ITS TRUE ITS TRUE ITS TRUE. I know that Satan is real and he is attacking the families more than ever. I also know that we are a lot stronger than him. Christ is our Savior and he will help us through whatever challenge or difficulty we are going through. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I don´t have any doubts about it. And in consequence, I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet. I know that this church is the church of Jesus Christ. I am so thankful we are all apart of it. Hope you all have a great week!

com amor, Elder Patterson
