Santa Maria. May 30, 2016

Hello everybody!

So wow, it feels like an eternity since I have written emails to you all. This week had so much stuff going on and I will just start out with last monday night. I finished packing bags and then we had a family night with Lucas and his family. I love them all so much. Lucas cried and I didn´t cry yet because I will see them again before I leave :) ha. But it was so sad to say goodbye to them all.

Tuesday morning was the transfers and I got my new area, Santa Maria II with elder Vieira. He is from Rio de Janeiro and has like 8 months on the mission. He is also one of the ´´bigger´´ missionaries on the mission. haha! and I know cody always sent address to his house and stuff so we could all see and I never did that, but now I will for you all! I live in this building on the very top floor:

It´s pretty nice. Missionaries have lived here for like 13 years or so, so it has couches and a place to hang my hammock! So it´s just perfect :)

Tuesday morning I also had an interview with President Lundgren and while I was talking to him I asked for a temple recommend interview. (can you believe it´s been two years since I got my recommend?) Anyways, I had tears in my eyes during the interview because it was sooo dang special. I can´t even describe to you all the feelings I had during it. Being able to renew my temple recommend was such a good experience because I just love the temple with all my heart. I have missed it soo much and just the fact of renewing my recommend was so special.

Anyways, being in my new area is sooo different than all my other areas. The Federal District is taken care of (streets, houses, and so on...) There are just tons of houses here and it has been decent to walk on asphalt the whole week! haha :) The members are also sooo good to us. I am meeting more of them everyday. Our first lunch was in a suuuper nice house. Probably the nicest I have had lunch in yet. I felt out of place for sure. But I am getting used to it.

My comp has one transfer in the area and his last companion was going home so they basically did nothing this last transfer. So I got here with zero investigators and my comp doesn´t really know anything about the area. So we just got a list of the members of the ward and we are visiting everyone on the list! It´s pretty funny because the list has like 500 people. Knocking on the doors is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you are going to get! Some people moved like 20 years ago, some people have died, and some people have never even lived in the addresses that are on the list! It´s crazy, but we are filtering everying pretty well.

Something interesting about this area is that two wards go to our same building. We got in the afternoon at 4pm. Church gets out at 7 and it´s dark already! It´s pretty weird, but also a cool change. But this week I have basically been getting to know the area and trying to find some investigators but it´s been slow. I am sure next week will be more exciting. Our area also has the sister trainning leaders. I love them so much! It´s such a hoot being with them. Nonstop laughter.

Oh! something cool that we did this week is announce our english classes. The four of us here in santa maria II and the 4 elders from Santa Maria I are going to start teaching english saturdays. And to spread the word we all got together on saturday and sat in front of the mall singing glorious and other hymns in english while we passed out invitations and stuff. We were all having a blast when some dude walked up and asked ´´who is in charge?´´ I thought, oh no, busted! But then he told us we would have much more success in the mall! He is like the manager and took us to the food court where we sang and passed out cards! It was such a blast! good stuff :) But that is about it for this week. I love you all so much! The Church is true! and here is the address of our church, enjoy:

com muito amor, Elder Patterson!!!
