This week weather was confusing as could be... It started off spectacular, super cloudy and cold! We would wake up one day and it would be super foggy, cold, and dreary, but when we went to lunch, the sun was out without a cloud in the sky. It was bipolar this week, the weather. At least I got to enjoy the cold for a little while! ha. I hope that it can continue to be cooler weather. It´s always a lot better to work when the sun isn´t so hot.
Então, this week was excellent. Nothing super WOW, but it was a good week none the less. This week we had a special experience with one of the young men of the ward that is getting ready to go out on his mission. He is 19 and it was his first time he went out with the missionaries. After our first visit he thought he had to go home, but once he figured out he could stay with us the whole day he got super excited and did just that :) The afternoon was pretty hard because our appointments didn´t work out so we started knocking doors. We got some atheists, pastors, and rude ´´believers´´ as they call them here. But our last visit of the day was super legit. We went to a less active members house to teach a reference from them. It was a couple named Selma and Jonas. They aren´t married (darn!) but it was awesome to teach them. We taught the Restoration and there was no interruptions! That is a miracle. I don´t know if I have ever told you all that, but EVERY single time we go to tell the first vision, a dog barks, a child screams, babies cry, fireworks go off in the road, cars with loud speakers pass, some knocks at the door, someone calls, you name it, everything has happened. But this time was different. Nothing happened, just great :) ha. Lucas ( the ym) even bore his testimony and it was so awesome. Selma even went to church yesterday :)
Thursday I was able to do another trade in Luziania to help the new district leader there, Elder Hoopes, american. It was really funny because Valeria (my convert) took us to a reference of a family she knows. I laughed because the very day I found her, I had knocked on that door and talked to the same guy. But this time we were able to teach the whole family. It was pretty special. I really felt like the trade we did was inspired because we passed in two houses of members while I was there. Remember Liley and her daughters? Where we did family night/seminary? Well, we stopped by her house and talked for a little bit and then one of her daughters asked me to give her a blessing. And at the other members house I was asked to give another blessing. I felt so honored to be able to help those families that I have grown to love so much over these few years here.
Friday was another crazy day because we did a trade with the assistants :) I don´t know if I ever told you guys but Seth and Barbosa are the assistants! haha. So it was just a blast and a half. I stayed here in Ocidental with elder barbosa and it was just like old times when we did trades in Palmas. We teach so good together and always have a smile on our faces because we always pass a sentence or two to each other during the lesson in english :) Such good times. He goes home in two weeks and more than likely I will cry because he is truly one of my best friends ever. But we have plans to resee each other fairly soon after the mission because he is moving to Utah :)
Sunday was a good day as well. We only had 6 people in the church, but our family went (half of them) so that is super exciting! Progress there :) And we worked our tails off yesterday. We even did a split with some of the members to get all our visits in. So today I was just super tired. Bad part is is that I didn´t even get to rest because we had our zone p-day at the chacará (that place we did it last time). It was a blast. I will send pictures for you guys. Anyways, have a great week! I love you all so much and can´t wait to talk to you all on Sunday.
com amor, Elder Patterson
