Man... I got a phone call this week that every missionary dreads but at the same time waits for anxiously. We call it the ´´ligação da morte´´ (the death call). It´s where the mission secretary calls you and asks what airport you are going to stop at. So this week I received my phone call and my plane ticket will be bought this week... Tugs on the heart strings a little.
Anyways, enough trunky talk. Lots of stuff to report this week! I think. Maybe. Who knows. ha! Lets start out with Tuesday. We had to do an emergency trade with a companionship in the zone. Not because they were fighting or anything but got in a dangerous situation. They were going home last Monday night and a car came out of nowhere and a dude got out trying to attack them. Luckily they were able to throw there bags and run. One of the missionaries only has 4 weeks on the mission and is from Chile. He was pretty shaken up so he stayed with me here in ocidental while I sent E. Ribeiro to their area :) lol. But it turned out alright. Those missionaries are going to have to rent a new apartment because theirs is far away from the church and in the middle of the weeds.
This week was pretty hard when it comes to finding new investigators. We knocked lots of doors (clapped hands in front of houses like I showed you all on mothers day) and I knocked about 100 catholics doors this week. The answer is usually the same ´´I was born in the catholic church, was raised in the catholic church, and will die in the catholic church...´´ And I am just like, ´´Cool. Here is in invite to our church! bye!!!´´ Ugh, freaking catholics...
But we did have some good experiences with Jefferson this week. Friday we passed by his house to do some visits with him. He went to lunch with us and went out with us until seminary. We took him to seminary for his first time and it was just the right day because there was pizza for all of us :) score. He is really progressing so much. Yesterday was his confirmation and it was super spiritual. As we placed our hands on his head to confirm him a member of the true church of Jesus Christ, the Spirit just confirmed to me that his baptism was complete and that this truly is the true church of God.
I also gave one of the hardest health blessings of my life this week! We stopped by a recent convert family this week and their baby girl was sick. She is like 10 months old I think and just the cutest thing ever. It´s such a temptation not to hold her. But as we were giving her the blessing she got super curious and was trying to see what we were doing, so she was moving her head trying to see and I refrained from laughing because it was like giving a blessing to a snake! In the end, it all worked out and she got better that very day :)
So this week we are going to continue working with Bruna. She is super ready for baptism and is super elect. We are going to visit her almost everyday to help her get ready. It´s going to be amazing when she enters into the waters because she has had a rough life.
Selma (our reference from a member) is also doing awesome. Our first visit to her she said that they weren´t married and would never get married ever because they have already been together for 25 years. Well, this week we taught the plan of salvation and we told her a requisite for baptism, is marriage. Well, she accepted without arguing or anything! She said ´´only you two are able to help me with this. I never thought I´d do it until now.´´ She is super great and it wasn´t us, but the spirit that changed her heart. All of lessons with her seem like they could have been videos from The District. So we are going to try and arrange everything for marriage this week.
Anyways, I love you all so much. I hope this week goes great for all of you. Happy Birthday to the greatest brother of all time! Drink some dew for the both of us ;) lol. The church is true like the sky is blue!!!
